Ewe Knit April 2010 Newsletter

SPRING HAS SPRUNG!

APRIL 2010

Dear Knitters and Crocheters

Spring is in the air at Ewe Knit and we are ready!

Our next Movie Sunday is April 25th from 3:30 until the movie is over.  We are meeting at Movie Fan.  The movie is “My Big Fat Greek Wedding”.  Pizza will be provided by Ewe Knit.  All drinks must be purchased from the Movie Fan.  This is great time to see a good movie, knit a bit, have pizza and enjoy Sunday.

Ewe Knit has lots of news going on to share with you beginning with an August 3rd, Stitch ‘N’ Pitch at the new CornBelters Stadium .  The cost is $11.00 per ticket, part of which will go to the Mitten and Hat Tree Project at Sheridan School. Our group will be recognized during the game.  Our Mitten and Hat Tree Project for Sheridan School will be mentioned,( if we could be knitting hats during the game it would be great!)  Ewe Knit is working to make sure that we have several surprises for everyone who comes to the game.  This should be a fun way to support the CornBelters while spending an evening with friends.  More information will be coming in the next few months.

We are bringing in Malabrigo yarns in the next few weeks.  We are looking at the most amazing colors Malabrigo has to offer.  If you have not knit with this great yarn, you are in for treat.  Ewe Knit is having a Malabrigo Cinco de Maya party for our customers as a way to introduce you to this yarn.  The party will be May 1st from 1:00 to 4:00.  There will be food, prizes, and some surprises for the attendees.  Mark your calendar for May 1st.

April 17th is the start of our next Knit-a-long.  We will be doing a tea cozy.  We will have several patterns for you to choose from.  You will need to bring your tea pot on the 17th so we can get the right size.  This is a fun project. A great tea cozy makes a great Mother’s Day gift.  We will meet on April 17th, from 1:30 to 4:00. We are making this a 3 week Knit-A-Long as these tea cozies go so fast and are so cute.  Hope to see you on the 17th.

Valerie Smith will be teaching a really neat class on various Cast-Ons and Bind-Offs on April 20th from 6:30 to 8:30 in the evening.  The cost is $20.00 for the 2 hour class.  You will need to bring solid color  worsted weight yarn and your needles.  The class size is limited to 6.  If you have ever wondered about other ways to cast on or bind off, Valerie will show you how and when to use them.

The next sock class starts on April 14th from 5:45 to 7:15. The class will meet, April 14th, 21st, and 28th. This is a 3 sessions class.  You need to know how to cast on, knit,, and purl and cast off.  We will be making Fuzzy Feet from the Knitty pattern.  You will need to use 100% wool as you will felt the socks once they are complete.  Cost is $45.00 for the 3 sessions plus supplies.  Class size is limited to 5.

Beginning knitting class is ongoing.  If you are interested in learning how to knit call or stop by Ewe Knit and set up a time that fits your schedule.  The first 2 classes are free, each additional class after those 2 is $15.00 per hour.

Ewe Knit is always willing to help knitters with their projects.  If you purchased your yarn at Ewe Knit there is no charge for the help.  If you bring in a project with yarn from another store, there is a minimum charge of $15.00 per hour for helping you move forward with your project.

Ewe Knit end of year newsletter

“We wish you a Merry Christmas, We wish you a Merry Christmas. And a Happy New Year”

December 22, 2009

Dear Knitters and Crocheters:

We thank you for letting us help you find the right yarn, workout problems in your patterns, share your successes and enjoy the laughter that you brought into our lives this year.

As we begin 2010, it is time to start thinking about what we want to knit or crochet in the coming year.  If you are like many of us, you have several (ok, for some lots) of projects on the needles.  We invite you to join us with either your works in progress or new works to Ewe Knit’s knitting groups.

Knit and Tea meets every Thursdays from 1:30 to 3:30 to knit, have a cup of tea, make new friends, and laugh.

Saturday Sit and Knit is every Saturday from 1:30 to 4:00.  This is a great time to kick back and take some time for you as you knit or crochet with friends.

We also invite you to come by the store any day you have free to have a cup of tea, sit and knit.

Once again, Ewe Knit will be sponsoring Project Linus.  In 2009 our customers made and gave to Project Linus 36 afghans to be distributed to seriously ill children.  Our goal this year is 36 afghans again this year. The afghans need to be 36” x 36”, in a washable yarn, bright colors and you choose the pattern.  This is a good way to use up some of stash.

We are also continuing to knit/crochet hats for the nursery at Bro-Menn.  In 2009, the knitters/Crocheters at Ewe Knit made over 200 hats for the nursery.  The nurses tell us the babies look like Easter eggs with all the colors that were used.  We are hopeful that we can do close to 300 hats this year.  The need is there and this is an easy charity project.

We want to tailor our classes to what you want to knit or crochet.  We are asking that when you come in, let us know what type of class you are interested in taking, such as beginning knitting, knitting in the round, fair isle, cables.  We are also interested in finding out what yarns you especially like to knit or crochet with, please let us know so we can plan our inventory to meet your needs.

Beginning Knitting – Lyn will be teaching beginning knitting from 5:30 to 7:00 on Wednesday evenings beginning January 6th.  She will be teaching you how to cast on, knit stitch, purl stitch and casting off.  The first project will be a set of coasters that will show the various stitches you learn.  Cost is $60.00 for 4 classes, plus supplies purchased from Ewe Knit.  Class dates are January 6th, 13th, 20th and 27th  Sign up early.  All classes are pre-paid. Class size is limited to 4

Knitting Socks – Heather will teach you how to knit great socks from the top down, and take away any fears that you might have about turning the heel.  Classes will be from 5:45 to 7:15 beginning January 6th.  Cost of the 3 classes will be $60.00 plus supplies.  Class dates are January 6th, 13th, and 20th.  Yarn must be purchased from Ewe Knit and classes are pre-paid.  Class size is limited to 4.

Beginning Crochet – Eva will be teaching beginning crochet on either Tuesdays beginning January 5th from 1:30 to 3:00 for 4 weeks, January 5th, 12th, 19th and 26th or Saturdays beginning January 9th from 11:00 to 12:30 for 4 weeks, January 9th, 16th, 23rd and 30th. Eva will be teaching you how to make a scarf.  Cost is $60.00 for the 4 weeks, prepaid.  Supplies need to be purchased from Ewe Knit.  Class size is limited to 4.

Individual Crochet Help – Eva is available to help with patterns, or work on problems that you have with your crochet.  Cost is $15.00 for 90 minutes of help.  If you have been away from crochet for some years and just want a refresher class this is the way to go.

We look forward to seeing each of you in the coming year.  May all your wishes come true and your projects turn out great.
